Denisa is a 24 year-old Romanian girl from Medias, a town in the centre of Romania. She wants to be an au pair because she has experience as an au pair in Germany and liked the experience. Because she studied Anthropology, she wants to know and live in as many countries as possible and wants England to be the next one.

She graduated from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work specialising in Anthropology. She currently is working in a petrol station and has to give two weeks’ notice.

Denisa likes going out with her friends, sightseeing, swimming and listening to music. She would like to try different outdoor activities like bungee jumping or other extreme sports.

She is a social smoker.She commitsthat she would not smoke in and around the home or in front of the children.


Childcare Experience: Denisa worked with children for many years and has a lot of experience. In 2005 she worked as an au pair for three months in Germany. She had to look after 2 girls (3 and 4 years old) and one boy (8 years old). She looked mainly after the girls as the boy was older. She took the girls to kindergarten, fed them, put them to bed (when the parents went out) and helped them to take a bath. She also spent time with the boy, playing with him and helping him with his homework. She also had to do some light housework and to keep the house tidy. During university she worked part time in a play centre for children in a shopping mall - Kids land. She was a supervisor and had to look after the children. When she graduated, she was offered a job as an assistant manager and she had more tasks. She had to register the children when they arrived, talk to the parents to see what they were allowed to eat or drink and to participate in different parties that they organised for the children. She enjoyed this job as she had the chance to participate in many parties and to dress up as different story characters. One of the families who were her clients liked her and offered her a job as a babysitter. She had to look after two girls (3 and a half months and 2 year and 9 months) for 5 or 6 hours a day for 2 months.

English Skills: Her English was good (she studied it for 9 years) and she had no problems in expressing her thoughts.

Other languages: Her native tongue is Romanian and she also speaks German at a medium level.

Housework: Denisa is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), shopping (Food, Groceries), care for babies, children or older children, washing, ironing, cooking for children, handiwork and caring for pets.

Character: Denisa considers herself sociable, optimistic, independent, responsible, curious and responsible.

Eating: Denisa doesn’t like soups. She really likes sweets and spicy food very much.

Driving: Denisa has not passed her driving test.

Family: She lives in Cluj Napoca with a girl from her home town. Her Mum is currently unemployed and her Father is an electrician. Her sister is 25 years old and is a student at the same university as Denisa attended.
