Sen Teacher Autism Support
Hays Education is working with a SEN School in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. They are seeking a committed SEN Teacher to join their team and to develop and deliver lessons to students aged 12-19. The pupils are statemented in autism (ASD) and they may have challenging behaviour. All of the students are non-verbal, and therefore, Signalong, PECS and TEACCH skills would be beneficial.
An understanding of the issues associated with complex needs is desirable. A commitment to furthering the learning and development of these pupils is essential.
This vacancy has an immediate start and it is a part-time position for two days a week, Thursdays and Fridays , until July 2010.
Requirements:
· You must have a recognised teaching qualification
· Experience teaching pupils with ASD is required
· Knowledge of PECS, TEACCH and Signalong would be beneficial
· You must be able to differentiate your approach to reach all learners
· An interest in special educational needs is required
